I am not a “runner”. I am not training for an obstacle course race, half marathon, or fitness competition. I am a 32 year-old mother of two who (finally!) made the decision to invest in my health and myself and the returns have been paid tenfold!
My first pregnancy in 2012 was complicated by excessive weight gain, high blood pressure, early induction, and post-partum depression. When I was pregnant with my second son, I made the decision early to take the best care of my body possible and committed to a training program with Kristy Agan. I have always worked out at different gyms and tried different programs, but this time I had a loftier goal than simply “getting skinny”. I wanted to be strong. I wanted to be confident. And I wanted to be healthy.
I would have never become any of these things without the help of Kristy Agan. My financial commitment initially led me to feel such a responsibility to my workouts that I began to treat them like an appointment with myself; a very different outlook than telling yourself that maybe you’ll get to the gym after work. However, it didn’t take long until I began to actually look forward to my time with Kristy. She is an encourager. She doesn’t beat you down to build you up – she is a teacher, an expert, and a role model that makes you truly want to become that better and stronger version of yourself. Her workouts are varied, customized, and fun!
For me, the results are coming. But the true gift that Kristy has given me is allowing me to fall in love with the process.
Oh I would like to add that during my second pregnancy, while training with Kristy, I stayed within the recommended weight gain range, had an easy delivery with no blood pressure issues, and went home feeling great 36 hours after delivery.

I have struggled with my weight ever since I was out of high school and no longer training 5-6 days out of the week. It’s always been a problem with motivation and my exceptional skills in rationalization. It’s been very easy for me to find reasons to not make it to the gym. Over the past 7 years I have used many different trainers as a form to motivate myself and only a few of them were able to give me what I needed to not just stay with a program, but to actually enjoy it. Kristy is not only one of those trainers, but arguably the best I’ve ever used. She knows just how hard to push you in order to reach your potential without being over bearing. She is very well educated in her craft and is always ready to answer any questions I might have regarding training or diet. She is whimsical with her workouts and I never know exactly what to expect which is not only great for my body, but my mind. I love that I have never done the same workout twice since I have been training with her. It keeps me from getting bored and it keep my body from getting used to specific lifts. She also has a great dichotomy between working hard and having fun while training. However, my favorite thing about her is that she lives her passion. She is always looking for new ways to train and is always in incredible shape, which for me, is not only a motivator, but a necessity in a trainer. She holds herself to the standards she sets for her clients. I would recommend her to anyone that wants to become a healthier version of themselves.

I am nearly 62 years old and she made me swing an 80 pound kettle bell for 8 rounds today. That’s one tough, wonderful, encouraging, confident trainer. I have worked out for years, but never had anyone have the faith in my abilities that Kristy does.

A year ago, I caught a glimpse of myself in a full length mirror. I really didn’t like what I saw. My daughter was getting married in June, and I just didn’t want to attend feeling like I did. I signed up for a boot camp at a local gym. Across the warehouse, this instructor was calling out instructions to people clearly twice (or three times) her size. Before I thought, I blurted out, “I don’t EVER want to do what they’re doing!” Boy, did I have to eat my words. Not only have I joined that group, but I have stepped it up to three days a week, with extra swings mixed in just for fun. Why? Because Kristy Agan knows how to motivate. She makes class fun, challenging, and worthwhile. We aren’t weighing and measuring every week. We aren’t comparing ourselves to each other. She brings you just up to the line of what you can do, helps you believe in yourself, and you step over it on your own. She has taken me from swinging a 20lb. bell and feeling good about it, to swinging 45-50 lb. bells and wanting to do more. She encourages, corrects your form, and challenges you to challenge yourself. I never feel pressured to do things, I feel motivated. I believe that is what a good trainer is supposed to do. Thank you, Kristy Agan, for showing me that I can swing so much more than a 20lb. bell. Who knew deadlifts could be fun?

I started training with Kristy in September, 2013. It is the best decision I have ever made. In July of that year I had just finished the infamous Peachtree Road Race and set my goals on running a half marathon. I knew that I would have to build more core strength to be able to run the race well. Since I have trained with Kristy I have now run 7 half marathons, 2 marathons and numerous 5ks and 10ks.
I love training with Kristy, I have built muscle, burned fat and my mommy belly has shrunk significantly. Kristy pushes you to do more than you think you can do; she has so much confidence in you (sometimes too much). Not only does she push you to show your potential. She also helps with your form to make sure you are not getting hurt. I am constantly shocked by how much weight I can deadlift and swing.
I never leave the gym without a smile on my face because I know that I have worked hard and been pushed hard; Kristy has shown me my true potential.

I have done a large group morning kettle bells class with Kristy for several years and been very pleased. I feel that she has encouraged me to go past my comfort zone in safe ways so that I can improve. She has a terrific sense of humor and always makes the workout fun and challenging. Recently I joined her small group personal training. It is wonderful! I feel like I get much more personalized instruction. Kristy has had me do things I never thought I would or could do. I feel that I am gaining strength as I learn new things! I appreciate her patience and expertise.

I came to train with Kristy after 9 months of no exercise, which included a knee injury. I had gained weight and hated the body I was living in. I began training with Kristy and my life began to change. With her encouragement and awesome workouts, which she modified for my knee, I started seeing small improvements in my strength and endurance. This just encouraged me to try more and push myself harder. I was always amazed at how she is able to keep watch over the group, and always correcting form or pushing someone to give a little more. WIth her help, I learned to not focus on the scale but on functional movements and strength building. I am happy to say I have lost 30 pounds, but more importantly I can now do real pushups, gator crawls and even run. While I am not at the end of my journey, I can honestly say I am happy in my body again. I still have many goals and I am confident that Kristy will help me achieve them. Kristy Again is a true blessing in my life. She is a truly gifted trainer and an amazing person. You really can NOT ask for any better.
